If you have booked in a shoot, I suggest you take a look at the information below before your session to ensure you get the most out of it:

What makes a good shoot?

Character and personality is my main goal. I want parents to look back at their pictures over time and identify that connection, smile or emotion. once you have booked a session with me, I will send you a Session Guide to answer many of your questions.

Lighting is key for a good photo session. I usually shoot in the mornings or afternoon, and sometimes if we are doing an outside shoot, the magic hours in the morning or evening make fantastic photographs.

Life has become much more transient over the years, so capturing your family now, here in Singapore is a lovely was to reflect on your time here in the tropics. Your own home is where most little ones feel most comfortable and relaxed. I like to be able to shoot in a place that has sentimental value to the family, so home, or favourite park are usually the best option. Light is the most important thing for capturing memorable shots.

As you can tell from the images on my site, I tend to steer away from too posed or fluffy shots, my style is more natural, organic and simple.

I always suggest for Mum to choose her outfit first and then get the family to co-ordinate their outfits around hers. That way Mum can feel most comfortable and relaxed. I always suggest a similar colour palette or neutral palette works well, as it always looks clean.

However, if your style is bright and patterned, just make sure other members of the family aren’t wearing anything too bold that will clash when sitting together. Usually one patterned dress / shirt is usually enough. I usually request to steer away from the adults wearing black.

Try to avoid wearing bold aquas, black or bold prints. These do not photograph well. Also try and avoid any clothing too matchy matchy. Wear clothing you feel most comfortable in.

Textured and pale-coloured blankets, wraps or swaddles also work well for shooting little ones

Try to avoid wearing t-shirts with logos. These do not photograph well. The same colour palette is advised and works well. It is important to wear clothing you feel most comfortable in.

When shooting newborns, textured and pale-coloured blankets, wraps or swaddles also work well.

A mixed colour pallet works well for little ones. As for parents, you can wear colours, or prints, but please bear in mind what your spouces are wearing, as you will all be photographed together.

For maternity shoots, I recommend, something pale and lightweight for an ethereal look. Alternatively, something that is clingy colourful / patterned to show of that beautiful bump. Around the 8 month mark is the best time for this.

Once you have booked in your session, you will be sent a 'Photoshoot Guide' on how to prepare your shoot to get the most out of it. This will be all those things niggling at the back of your mind, like "what to wear, what if the kids don't behave, how do I make my house look less cluttered"?

I will provide a step by step guide on how to make your session run as smoothly as possible. So don't worry I have that covered. Do feel free to shoot me an email with any other queries or concerns you may have.
